LightBEAM

A self guided adaptation of BEAM designed to increase access to mental health and parenting support for families across Canada.

The program was designed to provide accessible, flexible support that families can engage with at their own pace from home.

About LightBEAM Program

LightBEAM is a lighter touch, self guided adaptation of the BEAM program designed to increase access to mental health and parenting support for families across Canada. Delivered through a mobile app, LightBEAM was created to help address barriers many families face when trying to access timely support, including long wait times, geography, cost, and limited availability of services.

LightBEAM is delivered through a self guided mobile app over 12 weeks. Each week, participants complete brief mental health and parenting videos, practice activities designed to reinforce key skills, weekly symptom tracking, and optional participation in an online community forum where parents can connect, reflect, and support one another.

Current Status

LightBEAM is currently being evaluated through a pilot randomized waitlist control trial.

  • Recruitment began in 2025 and, to date, LightBEAM has supported over 200 parents across Canada.

  • Parents and caregivers of children aged 1.5–8 years complete a 12 week app based program including videos, exercises, symptom tracking, and peer support.
